5 on Friday

Linking up with the ladies for a Five on Friday!

1. I don't know about you all but when I make a goal to work out...it doesn't actually always happen. I make little deals with myself, like if I stick with it for a couple of weeks then I will actually purchase exercise gear. Well my whole New Years goal of getting out more and going for walks has actually come true! Since day one if I'm not a work Easton and I have gone for a walk.  Anyone have good work out strategies for Mamas...besides waking up super early or going to bed super late?

2. I am loving all the goodies I am finding on etsy for Broncos fans. This weekend is yet another big game against the New England Patriots...major family rivalry. Being from New England and having a Dad and brother that are big fans makes this game all the more important! Pulling for a win, but realize the Pats are a hard team to beat!

3. Sometimes I question myself why I always want to be taking pictures. Then I get to look back on days like this one and reminisce and realize the importance of a photo. Last year at this time we were planning a mountain getaway. I was so excited to bring Easton to the snow (he couldn't even walk or really play in it) and I hope this year we make it too! I think we may have to travel far since it was a steamy 90 degrees here yesterday!

4.  This week I put together Easton's toddler table and have been browsing DIY tutorials like this one. I am excited to develop one that is perfect and make it!

5.  Last year I sent Valentine's to some family and friends and I am trying to think of cute ideas for this year! I think it is fun to receive something in the mail!

The days

These days I feel so lucky when I have a day when its just the two of us and no plans. Mostly because these are the days where he gets to decide what we do. No rushing here or there. No trying to pick up after him. Just enjoying him and everything about him.

Believe it or not, yesterday was January 13th and it was hot and sunny, like really hot. Shorts and a tank top kind of hot. Most were complaining about the winds and the heat and must have forgotten where we live. Every year at some point the Santa Ana winds come and they bring hot hot air with them. Easton was so excited on our walk because the leaves were just flying around and the wind was blowing his hair. At one point he put his arms up as if he was on a roller coaster. It was amazing to see and to think that he probably doesn't even know what wind is and I loved watching him experience it.

I am trying to get out and walk to feel the fresh air and keep this body of mine moving and hopefully stay in some sort of shape. But I am also using this time for Easton to get out and run some off his energy. I realized when we are outdoors on the walking trails there really isn't too much that he has to stay away from. It is so relaxing watching him play and never having to say "no".  He picked his first wild flowers and played amongst blowing leaves.

It melts my heart when he is ready to keep walking after a pit stop to kick leaves or pick a flower and he says "go go" and holds my hand and we walk. My little hand holder really knows how to get his Mama's heart happy.

During nap time I put together his new toddler table. Ikea really has the best deals and although the furniture comes in a 8 bazillion pieces it is easy to put together. When he woke up he was excited to sit and play and of course have his water. He nows says please when he wants something. It actually comes out "plaaa" but we know what he is saying.

I hope for many more days like these.

Making 2014 count

Making 2014 count

A new year signifies new beginnings, closing doors and opening new ones, and as always, achieving new goals. This year the word I choose to enhance my goals is strength. I want to strengthen my relationships; with my husband, family, and friends. I want to strengthen my knowledge in the work place by seeking more knowledge and start studying and pass my next certification. And of course strengthen my faith.  I want more physical strength by being more active.

Is it funny that in order to strength relationships I need to do less? Rather than coming up extravagant activities or plans, I'd rather make it a point to plan a simple ones like a picnic and chit chat. I want to go on afternoon walks with my husband, no phones, no iPads, no tv, just us (and our babe in the stroller).

I will start studying for my certification and hopefully set a test date in the next couple of months. With each day of studying my knowledge will strengthen. I will consistently go to bible study and hopefully attend more Sunday services and in turn gain strength in His word.

The squeak of my wannabe jogger stroller will be ignored and I will go for walks  and get outside more.  I constantly feel like I can start my day without a shower, make up and regular clothes. I need to get over that and be fine with staying in exercise clothes all day. Hopefully i will gain physical strength from these outdoor activities.
